What is the ideal amount of daily protein for an average non-elite athlete? From what sources?
According to Campbell (China Study) the appropriate range is somewhere 5-10% of total calories.
According to Mark Sisson Primal Blueprint, "One gram or protein per pound of lean body mass is a good average number to shoot for over a range of a few days."

Thrive Diet author Brendan Brazier, "As long as whole, nutrient-dense foods are consumed, I don't worry about percentages. The Thrive Diet would be over 15% fat and protein, though, for sure. But, if it's raw fat such as seeds, seed oils, avocados, and some nuts, that's good. And raw protein sources are also much healthier than cooked; therefore the percentage can be healthier.
